Health is an area that is gaining interest all over the place. Shows like The Biggest Loser have helped to get America Healthy. Hopefully, if you have gone off the path in your life, you have been able to find a better road. Introducing sports, fitness, and diet into the lives of your children is a good way to ensure that they follow the yellow brick road that is so treacherous for the millions of people that co-exist in our lives.
Your child could be a natural athlete or a bookworm; this should not affect your decision to implement fitness into your kids’ lives. So what if they complain about going to baseball practice or dance class. They are also going to complain about doing chores. This doesn’t stop you from making sure it happens. Finding a source that fuels their need for exercise, while engaging them and stimulating their brains is ideal. This may often mean that you go through 5 or 6 sports before finding the one that your child doesn’t throw a fit about every time he/she is forced to go.
It is understandable that after money is invested into multiple failed attempts at a new recreational league, it is normal for parents to give up and acknowledge that wasting money isn’t helping little Jimmy stay active. That is the wrong approach. Finding hand me down equipment is possible. Places like your local YMCA often have driven for such things; you can donate Jimmy’s old equipment and potentially find something to work with the next sport on the list.
If you are unable to find hand me down equipment for the Hockey Team you just registered Jimmy for, but are convinced that this indoor sport might be the one that fuels his interest in physical activity. Then maybe being a goalie is right up his alley, there is no running required to be a goalie, and could be a perfect fit for your little guy. Well, you may be in luck because finding cheap goalie equipment is pretty simple with the right amount of research. All too often, consumers pay way too much. Shopping online for wholesale prices and discounted rates will keep little Jimmy moving forward without draining your bank account.
Exercise is only one part of the health conscience puzzle. It is important to also instill healthy eating habits. This is much easier to do when the only foods you have in your home are those of a healthy nature. Even your sweet snacks should be those that are 100 calories or less. Pay attention to the intake and monitor what your child eats. Keep your refrigerator and pantry stocked with whole grain pasta, wheat bread, organic fruits, and avoid using salt and butter as much as possible. Portion control is also an area where many don’t pay enough attention. Eating a steak, baked potato and green beans for dinner seem like a pretty well-balanced meal. However, eating 3 helpings of each one of those is not.
At the end of the day, there is no price for building fit and healthy children. The benefits of giving them good habits will carry with them for the rest of their lives. If you have struggled with health issues that could have been saved by a simple regimen of daily diet and exercise, you understand how serious it can be. You also know how hard bad habits are to break. Building good habits at a young age decrease the likelihood that your child suffers from weight problems in the future.

Yep, exercise and eating habits are extremely important in children, both for physical and mental health…Being active is also a way to be more productive and to think not just in one direction but multiple
I have a lot to work on to be fit and healthy. I just don’t seem to have the will power to stay with it.
I try really hard on portion control but it’s a challenge but I’m adjusting very well
Thank you, I have to start taking better care of myself
Portion control is definitely a major factor in losing and/or maintaining a healthy body weight.
I believe that portion control is key! You don’t have to starve yourself, but keep portions in check!
I am trying to stick to a organic diet.
So important to eat a balanced meal, I have to get better about snacking.
