Goodyear Auto Service

I made it through winter and here it is Spring! Yeah!!! I can’t tell you how many times I got into my vehicle and was hoping that I didn’t get a flat tire and end up stranded in a snow drift; changing a tire in the freezing weather isn’t my idea of a good time. There is probably a hundred things that could go wrong being out on the road; there’s no place to pull over, the jack slipping on the ice or wet roads, an out of control car could slam into me; hey, I don’t even want to think about that. Why didn’t I just buy some tires last Fall?!? Well, I can’t think of tires without thinking of Goodyear Auto Service., so I thought I’d give them a call.

Do you know what April is? It’s National Car Care Month! I didn’t know that. Anyways, it doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to figure out what keeps your car on the road, … it’s tires! And when I think of tires, I always think of Goodyear! I wonder why that is? Hmmm… Whether you drive a pick-up or a race car; a semi or an SUV; heavy equipment or a lawn tractor; a bicycle or an airplane, guess what? You’re going to need tires. And here’s something else you might not know, … Goodyear Tires has you covered for all of these items and more. I decided to see why Goodyear was so famous and seems to be everywhere and now I know why. You should definitely read this: https://corporate.goodyear.com/en-US/about/history.html. It describes Goodyear’s beginnings to present, but more importantly, the trials and tribulations of the man who invented the rubber tires that most of us take for granted today. Truly an inspirational story! Okay, back to MY story…

Call it cabin fever or stir-crazy (maybe stir-fry crazy), but I always do more traveling in the Spring and Summer. That’s probably why April is National Car Care Month. They know we’re going to be traveling more, so they want to get people thinking about getting their vehicles ready for the road.

Well, come to find out that Goodyear Auto Service is having a “Spring Car Care Event ”  going on right now! Woo Hoo! Just what the Doctor ordered! From now through April 13 you will receive complimentary tire tread checks, an instant $15 off a set of four Goodyear, Dunlop or Kelly tires, and free wiper blades when purchasing a set of tires. Oh yea, winter is always rough on my wiper blades too! It’s cool that they thought to include them as well. If you want to learn more about the “Spring Car Care Event”, and where to find a Goodyear Auto Service near you, visit GoodyearAutoService.com.

I made my appointment by phone. The guy I talked to was very helpful and got me an appointment on the day and time I needed it done. They didn’t have the exact tires I wanted at their service center, but assured me that they would have them shipped to their place prior to my appointment, no problem. Later something came up and I had to re-schedule my appointment and once again, they got me an appointment on the day and time I needed it. They were very polite and eager to help.

I guess I’m a creature of habit. I live by the beat of my own drummer and I don’t like interruptions in my daily life, so I appreciate the fact that they got me in and back on the road without too much of a wait. From start to finish I got all four tires mounted, balanced and put back on the truck in about an hour’s time. They even installed my FREE wiper blades for me (part of the “Spring Car Care Event”). I drove home feeling safe on the road. It’s always a good feeling to know that you and your loved ones are going to get in the car and make it to your destination on a good set of tires. And you know, over time my vehicle had developed a little shimmy in the steering wheel that I hadn’t really noticed until it was gone. The new wheels took all of the vibration out. Guess I really did need tires. Thanks Goodyear!

Before I go, I’d like to say something about the tires. Goodyear has been around for a long time (and with Good reason), they make good tires and they stand behind their product. Not only do they have the standard limited lifetime warranty, but they come with Lifetime balance, lifetime Rotation, and free alignment check on your vehicle.

I Started out in 1976 trying out to sing in bands but no bands were interested in me. In 1977 I started playing guitar. The individual that was teaching me (who for now will remain anonymous) told me that I would NEVER learn how to play guitar because I had no sense of rhythm. I joined my first band in 1978 called "Dead Center" in Jacksonville, Florida. I played an Aspen guitar, black; a Les Paul copy and in 1981. I gave that guitar to the teacher who said I'd never learn to play. I wrote my first song in 1979 or '80. Over the years I have been in many bands but my passion has been songwriting. I have written well over 100 songs and though the early ones were kind of rough around the edges, I think that most of them could be dusted off and given a new facelift. Today I am still working on my songs. Currently I can play guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, harmonica, and Native American flute. The flutes that I play are ones that I made myself. My guitars are the Epiphone G-400 faded, an Ibanez RG370 DX, an Epiphone G 1275 double neck guitar. My acoustic guitars are an Alvarez 12 string and an old Kay guitar. My drum set is a Peace drum set. I do my recording on a Zoom HD16.
